What is an HOA?

HOA stands for Homeowners Association or community association. All condos and most townhomes have an HOA. In addition, all homes in Mililani and many of the newer communities also have an association. Essentially, property owners within a community elect board members to create community rules, enforce the rules, assist in maintaining the community, and collecting funds to be used for current or future improvements.

This types of organizations have been very successful in helping maintain communities, which intern, helps maintain and even increase property value.

One of the main functions of an HOA is to establish rules for residents to follow. The intention of these rules is to preserve a certain level of tranquility in the community, ensuring each unit is doing their part to maintain the community, help ensure safety, and to also manage specific amenities such as pools, spas, parking, etc.
